Martin Guigui is an award winning Filmmaker and Grammy nominated music Producer.
Guigui has directed 8 Films, written 16 screenplays, Executive Produced over a dozen movies, scored music for over a dozen films and numerous TV shows. Guigui has also produced over 30 music albums. Born in Buenos Aires Argentina, son of Famed Symphony Orchestra Conductor Maestro Efrain Guigui, Martin had an eclectic upbringing in New York, Puerto Rico and Vermont, and has amassed a multi-talented career. Guigui early on worked the stand-up circuit, was an editor/sound engineer at ABC News, Produced music driven documentaries (Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Sun Ra). Guigui enjoyed acting stints, co-starring in the indie cult classic “Time Chasers”, starred, wrote and directed “My X-Girlfriend’s Wedding”, tooted by Rolling Stone as the “Spinal Tap of wedding receptions”, the culty favorite won critical acclaim “Best Comedy” and “Audience Favorite” awards at festivals worldwide launching Guigui’s filmmaking career. Guigui went on to direct “Changing Hearts” received critical acclaim Golden Globe consideration in three categories including “Best Song”. Martin directed the award winning “Swing”, National Lampoon’s “Cattle Call”, indie cult classic “Benny Bliss & The Disciples Of Greatness”, Dennis Quiad’s hit psychological thriller “Beneath The Darkness”, wrote and Directed “The Bronx Bull”, Executive Produced James Franco’s “In Dubious Battle” starring Bryan Cranston, Robert Duvall, Selena Gomez, Ed Harris, Josh Hutcherson, Zach Braff; and most recently wrote and directed “Nine Eleven” starring Whoopi Goldberg and Charlie Sheen. Guigui is also producing high profile award winning documentaries.
A grounding quality of Martin Guigui’s heart and soul is his extensive musical background. Mentored by his Father, Martin began playing Violin at age four, his concert debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony at age 12, performing Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Guigui also an accomplished Pianist and Music Producer has worked with iconic artists Billy Gibbons, Daryl Hall, Warren Haynes, Steve Earle, Sheila E, Tedeschi/Trucks, Jimmie Vaughan, John Popper, James Cotton, Jose Feliciano, Smokey Robinson, Bret Michaels, Billy Ray Cyrus, Eric Johnson, Joan Osborne, Orianthi, ZZ Ward, Bo Didley, Grace Potter, Phish, Jake Owen, Don McClean, Rita Coolidge, Candice Glover, Kris Allen, Laverne Baker, Randy Scruggs, James Montgomery, Eddie Money, Steve Forbert, NRBQ and the Slip. Guigui, a Grammy voting member, a skilled composer in Independent Films & children’s TV programming, has received numerous songwriting Billboard Awards, ASCAP Performance Awards, Caesar Award, Estabrook Award, Best Director at the USA Film Festival for “Swing”, which also won “Best Music” at Park City Music Film Festival, twice honored by City Of Los Angeles for artistic contributions to music education. Martin is President of Sunset Pictures and Old School Records, performs charity concerts regularly for Wall Street Rocks, Prevention Of Child Abuse, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. Guigui is a member of the DGA, WGA, SAG, NARAS, ASCAP. Martin, a standout high school basketball player, plays in the “Entertainment League” with the likes of Chris Brown, Adam Sandler, Snoop Dog, Sugar Shane Mosley, Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Brian McNight, Justin Timberlake and many other members of the entertainment industry who love to play the game.
